Environmental Planning Studios
The studio exercise is a major credit subject which the students work on in every semester. The focus of the studio exercise is always exploring and addressing issues pertaining to environmental concerns at various urban and regional scale. This has helps the students to better understand the local and spatial context and the different ways in which the stresses can be overcome.
In the first semester, which is an Integrated semester across all departments of Masters of Planning, here at SPAB, the students are introduced to the concepts of spatial planning and analysis through a studio exercise where an urban area is picked out as a case study. The students of Masters of Environmental Planning move to their specializations at the end of first semester within their department. The second and third semester of Environmental Planning is primarily focused on assessment of various Environmental issues at Regional and Urban scale respectively. The methodology for study typically includes collection and analysis of spatio-contextual data and information along with an on site visit for an on-the-site experiential learning experience. The end outcome of the studio is often focused on spatial planning and policy measures and emphasis is given on the methodology to address the issues with people's participation as well as by developing the short-term remedies to reduce the stress levels in building resilience within the communities.
