Eligibility

A) An applicant shall be eligible to apply for the Ph.D. programme of SPAB provided s/he has successfully completed any of the following Degrees from the first three listed categories below (i, ii and iii) with 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA (55% marks or 5.5 CGPA for reserved categories) OR a Degree as listed in category (iv) from a recognized University/Institution: 

i) 1year/2 semester’s Master’s Degree programme in various specializations of Architecture/ Planning/Design and allied subjects; 

ii) A 2year/4semester’s Master’s Degree programme in various specializations of Architecture/ Planning/Design and allied subjects; 

iii) Integrated Masters Degree Programme in various specializations of Architecture/ Planning/Design and allied subjects; 

iv) A Bachelor Degree in Architecture or Planning or B. Tech (Planning) / B. Design or any equivalent Degree for the said disciplines as listed in AICTE approval documents, B.A.(Fine Arts/Visual Arts or allied discipline) with 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA (70% or 7.0 CGPA for reserved categories) or equivalent grade. 

B) Candidate with an equivalent Degree from a Foreign University and programme is also eligible to be admitted to the PhD programme of SPAB provided the programme is accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency recognised by law in the foreign country and equivalence is established either by an organisation in India or by a committee constituted at SPAB for the purpose by the Chairperson of the Senate, SPA Bhopal. 

C) Foreign nationals are eligible to apply following Government of India rules or regulations. If these applicants are from countries where the official language is not English, they are required to submit results of TOEFL/ IELTS/ PTE tests as proof of proficiency in English language.

D) Apart from Masters Degree Programme in various specializations of Architecture / Planning (including 1 year, 2 year or integrated programs) and their equivalent degrees stated above, the following degrees from allied disciplines are eligible: ▪ M.A. / M.Sc. in Geography / Economics / Environmental Science; ▪ 5 year Integrated Degree in Law with specialization in Environmental Law o With respect to the conditions mentioned in RG3, sections iv, B. Plan degree or its equivalent degree as listed by AICTE is eligible.
